Cozy Pockets Organizer
Today I present to you...the Cozy Pockets Organizer! Yeah I don't really know what to call this thing, it is something you hang on your wall and where you can put in little things such as pins, threads...Even if they're not sewing supplies, you could put in paperclips, memos, or put a notepad in the biggest back pocket.
Making this was quite daunting, having to piece all those fabrics together. Starting from the crosses, to the windows, to joining them in a bigger white window, piecing that with the roof and bottom pocket...But I am very glad that I made this, because it is very cute. Mostly, I just feel satisfied that I am done a slightly difficult project like this.
So yeah! Let's dive into the tutorial~

(1) 3/4" wide 8" long lace trim for top pocket
(1) 1/2" wide 8" long lace trim for bottom pocket
(1) 8" x 11" fusible interfacing
(1) 10" x 4 1/4" fusible interfacing for roof
(1) 10" x 4 1/4" cotton batting for roof
(1) Printed tag label for embellishment
(1) 4 1/2" long cord for hanging loop
Note: 1/8" seam allowance is used until a certain point, which I will mention on the way.
Let's get started!
1. To make windows, sew the short red checkered piece between two squares of flower print. Do this for all the short red checkered pieces and squares of flower print to make eight half windows. Now sew the long red checkered piece between two half windows. Repeat this for all half windows until you have four complete windows. Press.
2. Sew the canvas lining to one side of the window. Fold the window right side out and press. Repeat for all four windows.
3. Sew the 1 1/2" x 3 canvas pieces between two windows. Repeat for the other two windows. Press.
4. Place on piece of joined windows on top of the 6" x 3" canvas piece. Align the bottom edges and topstitch between the two windows. Repeat with the other piece of joined windows and the other 6" x 3" canvas piece. The pieces should each measure 6" x 2 7/8".
5. To the top of this double window piece, sew on the 6 x 1 1/2" canvas piece. Topstitch.
6. Then sew the bottom of the other double-window piece to that strip of white canvas. Topstitch.
7. Take the two 1 1/2" x 6 1/4" canvas pieces and sew them onto each side of the piece. Topstitch. Remember to press as you go! The finished piece should now measure 8" x 6 1/4".
8. Sew the 8 x 1 1/4" piece of canvas to the top of this piece, and topstitch. Then sew the 8 x 4" canvas piece to the bottom of this piece, and topstitch here as well.
9. Align the crochet trim to the top edge of the piece. Then lay the 8 x 10 1/2" canvas piece right sides together on top of this and sew along the top.
Flip right side out so that the trim is sticking up, press, and topstitch that seam.
10. To make the bottom pocket, align the crochet trim to the top of one of the 8 x 3/4" blue floral print pieces. Then lay the other blue floral piece on top, right sides facing, and sew along the top. Fold right side out, and press. Topstitch.
11. Pin this bottom pocket to the bottom of the four-window piece, and baste along the bottom and sides.
You can also attach a little tag at the corner for embellishment, mine says "spring" with a little sapling growing on it.
12. Fuse the 8 x 11" fusible interfacing to the back of one of the the 8 x 11" canvas pieces.
13. Place the interfaced piece on your work surface, right side up. Then place the four-pocket piece on top of that, right sides up and aligning to the bottom . Place the remaining 8 x 11" canvas piece on top of the stack, right side down.
14. Pin and sew along the bottom and sides, using 1/4" seam allowance.
Note: From here on we will use 1/4" seam allowance.
15. Turn right side out and press. Topstitch again below the bottom two windows, to add more stability to the structure of this organizer and also to shorten the biggest pocket behind the windows.
16. To make the roof, fold the 10" x 4 1.4" white floral pieces in half and cut diagonally to create 10" long and 4 1/4" high triangles.
17. Fuse cotton batting to the back of one of these triangles, and fusible interfacing to the back of the other triangle. The triangle with the cotton batting is the front of the roof.
18. With right sides together, centre the bottom edge of the front triangle to the top edge of the house. Sew using 1/4" seam allowance. Press the triangle up.
19. With the loop pointing down, baste the cord to the top point of the back triangle's right side.
20. Lay the triangle back on the triangle front, right sides together. Sew along the two slants and two short edges.
21. Clip and trim corners and edges; turn right sides out and press.
22. Flip the house to the back, and fold the raw edge of the back triangle 1/4" underneath itself. Slip-stitch this opening to the back canvas of the house. Flip the house on its front again, and topstitch along he bottom and short sides of the roof.
And...
We. are. done!!!!!
Yaaaaaaaayyyyy~
